QSL Policy
Sending a QSL card is so much more enjoyable for everyone if a few simple requests are followed. The following guidelines are subject to change.
Cards are sent to those who send theirs. Please remember to indicate if you require a return card.
Cards sent via the bureau are returned via the bureau.
Cards sent direct are returned direct providing that return postage cost is not extremely high to return. If you would like to help with postage costs incurred, adequate postage consists of the following:
1. One British 1st/2nd class stamp (UK stations only!)
2. 1 British "E" Stamp (European Stations only!)
3. USD$1 (European Stations and USA) or USD$2 (Rest of the World) This is subject to change
4. 1 valid new-style IRC (expiry 2010 or later)
In such instances where a card is unable to be sent direct, having been received direct and accompanied by a postage contribution, I will normally email (where possible) to see what you want done with the money. If this is not possible, all unused money will be donated to charity.
Please indicate clearly, either via email, on air, or on your card if your card should be forwarded to a QSL manager.
Please do not send foreign (including Channel Islands and Isle of Man) stamps, if you wish to help with postage costs, as they are not valid and cannot be used in the UK.
Please do not send monetary coins through the post as they will more than likely not arrive at their destination.
I can accept any postage payments though Paypal. Please use the contact form, indicating your intentions in order to get my email address to transfer the money.
If you enclose an envelope, please ensure that it is no larger than A5 as Royal Mail charge by weight and size. Please do not stick stamps onto the envelopes, use board backed envelopes or use envelopes with metal sealing devices. If you include stamps, please place them inside an envelope along with your card.
It may sound silly, but include your return address - I have several cards sent direct with no return address on the card or in the call book!!
Cards enclosed with postage but no envelope are acceptable.
SWL cards are welcome, and will be answered in the same fashion as for Licensed Amateurs.
Emailed requests for a card should be directed via the Contact me page (the link will open in a new window). Users of this facility should select the correct option, i.e. "Request a QSL", from the drop-down menu and should fill in the details (Date of contact, time in UTC, Frequency/Band, and any other information that is felt appropriate. Cards for valid QSOs requested in this fashion will be returned via the bureau.
Cards sent via eQSL.cc are welcome but will not receive a reply. At present only my MI3JVI & 2I0JVI callsigns are registered with eQSL.cc
I do not use Logbook of The World (LOTW) and have no intention to start in the foreseeable future.
Cards relating to contacts which are not in my log book will be stamped "Not in Log" and returned to the callsign on the card via the bureau.
